“Construction and renovation works at our major stadia are on course.” CS Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen.

Cabinet Secretary Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen has assured the nation that the construction and upgrading of key stadia, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nyayo National Stadium, and Talanta Sports City are on track. 

These developments are crucial in preparation for upcoming international sporting events, ensuring the venues meet global standards and are ready to host large-scale competitions, including CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027. His reassurance emphasizes the government's commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in the country.

On 15th September 2024, CS Kipchumba Murkomen had the pleasure of hosting CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe on a tour of key sports infrastructure, as part of the preparations for upcoming international tournaments. 

The tour highlighted Kenya's efforts in partnership with Uganda and Tanzania to ensure readiness for AFCON 2027. 

Dr. Motsepe was impressed by the progress made and expressed confidence that Kenya, alongside its East African neighbours, will be fully prepared to deliver a successful tournament. 

Additionally, the CAF Executive Committee held a meeting on Monday, 16th September 2024, further reinforcing the collaborative spirit around the preparations.
