CS Murkomen pledges increased investment in sports as Kenya celebrates Paris 2024 success

The Cabinet Secretary Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen,EGH has said that his ministry will increase investment in the sports sector, to unearth more gems, and reinforce Kenya's status as a global athletics powerhouse.

Speaking at a gala hosted by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) to honor Kenya's success at the Paris 2024 Olympics, CS Murkomen praised the athletes on their consistent success on the global stage, terming them the country's top brand ambassadors. "Our athletes are our number one brand ambassadors. We deeply appreciate their sacrifice and hard work in positioning Kenya on the global sports map," he said.

The CS announced plans to channel more resources into sports development, with a focus on identifying and nurturing talent in schools. "We are shifting our focus to early talent development rather than just celebrating at the finish line," he added.

The event also recognized the contributions of sponsors, coaching staff, and Athletics Kenya fraternity. "Congratulations to our athletes and a big thank you to everyone who contributed to our success in Paris," the CS concluded.
